Got Myself in a Jam!

Picked strawberries a few week ago. The picking was not as good as last year, as we have had too much rain, did I say that, yes, remind me of that in July and August when we are having a drought. Too much rain and not enough sun does not make a happy berry!

Had everything ready for the jam fest.

And we're off.....

Made 4 batches of jam.

And still had plenty left over for shortcake, strawberry ice cream and freezing for future treats.
This is one jam I look forward to each year.

Look what I have!

Yes, I finally did it. I decided on a camera and I bought it.  No more waffling, time was a wasting - time to take some pictures.  Now I just have to figure out how to use it.  So hopefully you will see some better action shots of Reese soon.

Reese and I went to out herding lesson last night and I worked Reese for a bit after the instructor.  It was really good to start working her again. We are using a different technique now then we have in the past and it is really helping Reese to build her confidence and think about actually working not just getting amped and circling.  She is working her flanks better and much farther away from the stock. She is bending and giving when asked.  She has developed a very nice "go bye" and that is still her preferred side, while she still gets a bit nervous when she is on her "away" side, it is coming along nicely. It is just a change for me with the new methods we are using so I have a bit of work to do but a few more times working her and I think it will start to come. The instructor gives really good explanations of why and what we are doing so that helps a lot.

Hopefully the rain will quit one of these days so I can get outside for some pictures.

Our First Agility Fun Run!

This weekend Reese and I participated in our first Agility Fun Run!  It was lots of F U N!
My goal was to see how Reese would handle the crowd of people and the other dogs walking around and her concentration on the course after watching other dogs run.  She did great. I am so proud of her.  Especially since we haven't had a lesson the last two weeks due to the weather.

Her turns could have been a lot tighter but that will come.  I wasn't even worried about that this time.  I just wanted her to run the course with me and she did just that.  Any errors were made by me, the handler.

Here are a couple of videos of our runs.  We did both a Standard and a Jumpers course.  Fun, Fun, Fun!

Gardening from Reese's point of view!

"I'm not sure those sunflower seeds are deep enough, Mom"
"I would have dug deeper holes"

"Aahhh, it's hard work this gardening stuff.  I think I'll rest a bit."

The Garden is Coming Right Along....

I decided a while ago that I was going to have a garden this year.  I had thought about it last year, but didn't get time to put it in.  This year I was determined to give it a try and see what I could grow.

This is where I wanted the garden to go.  An old brick patio that I didn't use in its old location.

So first I had to dig up all the brick and put it somewhere else.
Some was stacked here and the rest went
here.....
Then the tilling began......

The fence is on the way up to keep the little bunnies away...
Contractor Reese is keeping a close eye on the project!
Tonight we plant!

So What's Up With the Blog Changes???

Yeah, I've been changin' the blog a bit here and there.  Trying to find something that I like so please be patient.  I had a nice green background that I really liked and then I tried some of the new templates and now of course I can't find the green that I had.

The new templates are nice because you can change the layout on them a bit but I still haven't found what I am looking for.  Trying black background right now, I like how it makes the pictures look, but a lot of people use black so stay tuned, it will probably be different the next time you visit.

Also, I have realized I do not like trying to go back and repost for things that have already happened.  Getting a good post about our Mother's Day Celebration together and then will just continue from current events.
